Ice rinks in Gardner Park opened in 1968 after moving from their long-time home on the outskirt of the park, across the Clyde River near the bandstand area. Gardner Park now features two separate maintained ice surfaces connected by frozen skating paths. The contained hockey rink is open for casual stick and puck while the smaller rink on the south end offers regular public skating. Bring the family down to enjoy some frozen fun this winter! No skates? We provide free skate rentals, as well as skating lessons throughout the season. Get your kids signed up today!

Skate Lessons
Learn-to-Skate lessons at Gardner Park are introductory programs that help brand new skaters gain confidence and learn the basic skill of ice skating. Children will learn how to move on ice, improve balance and coordination. Lessons are taught by local instructors who are very experienced skaters and have a desire to work with children.

Skate lessons will be offered for age groups of PK-Grade 2, Grades 3-5, and Grades 6 and up. To learn more about the Learn-to Skate program, or to register your child, click HERE.

Open Skate & Skate Shack Rules
While the rink is open to the public, skating at your own risk can be a dangerous activity that can lead to serious injury. Children under 12 years old require adult supervision. Helmets are required for hockey, and encouraged for all skating.

The Skate Shack provides free skate rentals that are available during ice shack hours. We provide skates of all sizes from 1-13.

DONATIONS: If your child has outgrown a pair of skates in decent condition, you can drop them off at the skate skate during hours, or at the Parks and Recreation Department in the municipal building.
