Newport Fall Festival
Autumn is a special time in the Northeast Kingdom, and what better way to celebrate turning of the leaves than with an old-fashioned festival. Downtown Newport's fall events are hosted in collaboration with several community organizations. including Parks & Recreation, the North Country Chamber of Commerce and several local vendors and organizations. The weekend includes an antique car parade, photo contest, scarecrow contest, farmers market, live entertainment and of course, a Chilifest contest that will warm your inner leaf peeper!

Submit your photos of landscapes, fall scenes, foliage and radiant leaves! Fall gift baskets will be awarded in three creative categories including "Home Sweet Home," "Living Color," and "Vermont Made." Voting for the "People's Choice Award" will be available on our Facebook page starting October 14th. The winner will be announced October 16th. Vermont's North Country Chamber brings to the table the tastiest part of the Fall Festival...CHILIFEST! This fun, family-friendly event boasts great chili, live entertainment and something for all "tastes." Cooking chili is an art and with over a dozen competing businesses and individuals, visitors are sure to find something they like! Tasting begins at 12PM on Main street near the Emory Hebard State Building. Tasting "spoons" given by the chamber, are $5 each with competition and voting closing at 2PM. Winners for the "People's Choice Award," and the best decorated booth will be awarded at 2:30PM! Contest Rules & Registration Form ![]() Chamber Scarecrow Contest
Hosted by Vermont's North Country Chamber, local residents and businesses are invited to participate in an area-wide Scarecrow Contest! The competition is open to all ages with prizes for the most traditional, most creative and most colorful creation. These whimsical scarecrows will be judged on Saturday, September 21 and will adorn Main Street through the Fall Foliage Festival on Saturday, September 26th. September 25, 2021 - 10:00AM Northern Border Running Club is hosting their 4th Annual “Bike Path Throwdown” 10k & 1 mile races. This race is FREE. The 10k (6.2 miles) course will start and finish at the beginning of the bike path in Newport. There will also be a 1 mile course marked off for the 12 and under walkers/runners. Parking is available at North Country Hospital, and registration is open in-person from 9:00AM - 9:45AM the day of the race. The Newport Farmer's Market is located next to the band stand in Gardner Park and features a variety of fresh farm produce and products. On any given day, you can find a diverse collection of Vermont Made products including jams and jellies, American Girl doll clothes, natural soaps and lotions, caricatures, relishes, maple syrup and muchmore! The farm stand opens each May and runs 9AM-2PM, every Wednesday and Saturday. |
