Argentine Tango is a nuanced, walking-based dance that virtually anyone willing can master. It is often regarded as one of the most beautiful and artful dances in the world. Join NEK Tango instructors Phil Ciotti and Emily Locke on a journey of rhythm, sound and movement that is enriching to the soul and freeing for the mind and body. Beginner classes focus on tango basics, including the tango walk, posture, the embrace and dance floor navigation. Intermediate classes expand further on these topics and also include focus on more advanced steps, sequences and embellishments. Practica following class is a guided practice time where all students can dance and learn together, with more freedom to explore. The skills and empathic connection you learn in this class will last you a lifetime, and the friends you meet will too. Come with a partner or by yourself, all ages and experience levels are welcome. Your first class is free. Phil Ciotti began dancing in the 1970's, starting to explore tango around the year 2000. Phil has studied Argentine Tango with many known professionals over the years, and considers himself a lifelong student of the art of Argentine Tango. His passion for the Tango fuels his stewardship in the tango community through teaching and dancing, and he travels, studies and dances the tango as often as he can frequenting destinations like Boston, New York, and Miami. Phil resides in Saint Johnsbury, VT, where he also teaches tango classes weekly. Emily Locke is a tango dancer and classical pianist from Waitsfield, VT. Emily began her dance career at age 3 in Tap, Jazz and Ballet, and discovered the tango in 2008 through her voracious love of music and poetry. In 15 years of devotion to tango, Emily has danced in cities across the US and around the world, including Montreal, San Francisco, Paris and Buenos Aires. She currently resides in the Northeast Kingdom with her loving husband Joshua and two young sons, Ace & Graham. |
